All good things must come to an end...

I've given this a lot of thought this week, and I've come to the decision that it's time to say goodbye to everybody and their moose. For those of you who need three good reasons why, here they are:

1. Although I was extra busy during the month of November, in retrospect, I can see that my entries were getting a lil more serious and a lil less silly... and that's not good. When I started this blog back in July, my intention was to give everybody and their moose a really REALLY SILLY commentary on NHL hockey. Either hockey itself has been a lot less silly this past month, or the muse has left me. I think it might be the latter... :(

2. I have less time now than I did when I started this. It's true. Aside from my attempt to begin a novel during National Novel Writing Month (you can Google that, btw), I've become busier with work and family stuff, both of which are going to take up a lot of my time over the next few months, which won't make life any easier for me. I was trying to make this blog one of my top priorities, but it's fallen farther down the food chain of my life, unfortunately.

3. I miss just being a hockey fan. There's a LOT of people out there with really REALLY GOOD hockey blogs, some of which I don't even have links to yet, and the more I've busied myself with creating this blog, the less time I've had for reading other people's blogs, and that's a real shame!!! I usually spend between 2-4 hours a day working on this blog. I know that's hard to believe, but there's a lot of work involved in keeping up with the hockey world, deciding on subject matter or coming up with a silly idea, and then following through with the writing (and photoshopping, if any), and whatever else it is that I do here. Plus, I'm a perfectionist, which means I put a great deal of pressure on myself. :P

Was that enough reasons???

Writing is one of my passions. I made it just past the 30,000 word mark, so I didn't hit NaNoWriMo's 50,000 word goal, but I've got a really REALLY good start on my novel, so I plan to continue on and finish it. As a result, my writing muse seems to have left the blogosphere and moved to novel land. Now, considering I don't live on the Kuiper belt object, (formerly known as the planet Pluto), where the days are 153 hours long, I can't do everything - no matter how hard I try. So rather than add more stress to my life in trying to juggle too many irons in the fire, I'm going to call it a day here.

It's been really REALLY fun entertaining you these past five months!!! Please check out some of the links from yesterday's entry if you need a good laugh. It's some of my best silly stuff, guaranteed! ;)

With love to everybody and their moose... :D

LCL's Video Day # 15 - Two turkeys and a Duck

Hi everybody! And hi to any moose who might be reading this! :D

Today I'm having a really REALLY BAD day, so I'm calling a VIDEO DAY! Video Day is a rare and random day when my brain needs some recharging.

'Tis the season for turkeys...

This video is from last March, and it's called "Andy McDonald segment". Andy McDonald of the Anaheim Ducks talks about his first job, where he assisted in... turkey vaccination!!! This video also features a couple of turkeys and Teemu Selanne. (Okay, who said "make that three turkeys"???) :P

Go nuke yourself some popcorn and hurry back to your computer!!!

Kiss the Swiss goodbye...

I warned you about this...

Goalie David Aebischer has signed with HC Lugano of the Swiss Elite League... THROUGH THE 2011/2012 SEASON!!! :O

In other words, he's... gone!!! :(

Everybody and their moose probably saw it coming. Once the Phoenix Coyotes had claimed Ilya Bryzgalov off waivers, it was evident that poor Abby would be out the door. And that's just what happened after Alex Auld was sent down to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL.

Aebischer's last game with the Rampage was a 3-1 loss to the Iowa Stars on November 10. After that, he did a lot of sitting around, which I can only imagine feels "normal" to him by now, but not in a good way!!!

Things began to happen around the middle of last week, or at least that's when the European media began reporting information. I never thought to look there because: 1.) I was on my "vacation from the blogosphere", and 2.) I assume we get all the latest news here in America. :P By the weekend, it was in the news here, and the NHL was reporting it as a "loan" to the Swiss club. Okay, so that didn't sound so bad because usually when you loan somebody something, you get it back, right? As I understand it, Abby no longer belongs to Phoenix. HC Lugano will take over payments of his $600,000 NHL salary for this season. And I haven't seen a single article on this side of the pond that bothers to mention the fact that he has signed a really REALLY LONG contract!!! (I'm probably just not reading enough, right???) :P Anyway, he'll be 34 years old when that contract is up...

HC Lugano (I keep wanting to type HC Luongo...) is the team that Abby played for during the lockout. I guess there's some controversy surrounding that gig, but I don't really know the details because I was following a Norwegian team at the time... (don't ask!) And when I say controversy, I'm not referring to the way Babel Fish translates Mark Streit's last name... (ROFLMAO!!!... Babel Fish cracks me up!) I wouldn't mind putting Mark Controversy back on my fantasy team if only his +/- would improve... but I digress...

Where was I? Oh yeah... ABBY!!! He won his first game on Saturday!!! HC Lugano beat HC Ambri-Piotta 2-1 in a shootout. Their next game in on Wednesday. In case you or your moose is interested, here is the team's website link: HC LUGANO. There's a splash page where you can choose your language: German, English, or Italian. ;) There's NHL and AHL experienced guys on the team, including Anson Carter... (Hey, wasn't he sorta kinda with the Coyotes too???) Somebody cue the "Twilight Zone" theme... :P

It seems Abby had a choice between playing in Switzerland or going to Russia. Going home seemed like the right thing to do for now, and if the NHL should ever want him back, he says he'll return. But in the meantime, he's got a job, and from what I understand, he's the starter. I believe he needs a consistent opportunity to play in order to regain his goaltending mojo, so maybe this is a really REALLY GOOD thing for him after all???

For all of you stats freaks:

Aebischer played 214 NHL games, with a 106-74-12-5 record, including 13 shutouts, a 2.52 GAA and a .912 SV% in seven seasons with Colorado, Montreal, and Phoenix. He has a 6-5 record with a 2.07 GAA and a .922 SV% in 13 career playoff games. Aebischer was originally drafted by Colorado (6th round, 161st overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Abby, you will be sorely missed by your North American fans!!! I wish you all the best!!! :)

David Aebischer goes home: Will we ever see him again???
